Description

This certificate features a bold classic design with high contrast and a layout that allows for significant amounts of information. The top two headings clearly specify what the certificate is for and are useful for listing the achievement or award type. Underneath, the recipient's name is highlighted in a ribbon with a very high contrast to stand out. Two lines of optional long description text are available, one in a larger font size and the other in a smaller. Use these for stating what the certificate is for or writing a congratulatory message. Finally, two signature or information lines are present at the bottom, each of which has a title and optional subtitle which can be used for signatory names or writing the date of issue.

Usage Guide

Compilation

This template compiles with standard pdflatex. It uses TikZ to create certain elements of the certificate layout, so you will need to compile twice in order for these elements to find the correct place on the page.

Certificate Information Commands

Several custom commands are present in the template for outputting the various elements in the certificate.

\heading This command takes a single parameter for the top certificate heading, automatically capitalized. Typical values may be: Certificate, Award, Congratulations, or a prize/qualification the recipient has attained. The text you enter will split to new lines if it is too long, but it is not recommended to have more than two lines for this text.

\subheading The subheading underneath the main heading, useful for qualifying the main heading, such as listing a diploma awarded or an event successfully completed. Leave this command empty (i.e. \subheading{}) if this text is not required.

\recipient The single parameter to this command is the name of the recipient of the certificate. It will be automatically capitalized.

\largedescription The single parameter for this command is displayed underneath the recipient's name in a larger font. Use it to give further information about the reason for the certificate, a congratulatory note or for giving further information about the achievement. Leave this command empty (i.e. \largedescription{}) if this text is not required.

\smalldescription The single parameter for this command is displayed underneath the large description in a smaller font size. Use it to give even more information about the event or achievement, especially if a significant amount of text is required. Leave this command empty (i.e. \smalldescription{}) if this text is not required.

\leftlinetitle This command takes a single parameter for the bold title under the left line at the bottom of the certificate. The text entered will be automatically capitalized. Leave this command empty (i.e. \leftlinetitle{}) if this text is not required and the left line will disappear too.

\leftlineoptional This command takes a single parameter for the subtitle to the left line title. It will only be output if the left line title is specified. Leave this command empty (i.e. \leftlineoptional{}) if this text is not required.

\rightlinetitle This command takes a single parameter for the bold title under the right line at the bottom of the certificate. The text entered will be automatically capitalized. Leave this command empty (i.e. \rightlinetitle{}) if this text is not required and the right line will disappear too.

\rightlineoptional This command takes a single parameter for the subtitle to the right line title. It will only be output if the right line title is specified. Leave this command empty (i.e. \rightlineoptional{}) if this text is not required.
